Proximity to Military Bases
Given their location on the west bank of the St. John’s River, Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega are closest to NAS Jax. To get to NAS Mayport, you’ll need to take either the Fuller Warren Bridge or Henry H. Buckman Bridge and head all the way east. To reach Kings Bay, you’ll need to take I-95 North, which is most accessible from Riverside and furthest away from Ortega.
Access To The Rest of The City
Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega are tucked away in a corner of the St. John’s River. Accessing the rest of the city isn’t difficult, it just isn’t always quick. Roosevelt Blvd (US 17) is the main road running through the neighborhoods and can connect you with either I-95 to the north or I-295 to the south to access the rest of the city.
