Buying a Home from Afar
One of the things I love about my job are the amazing families I get to connect with and guide through the home buying process! With many of our customers being affiliated with the military and being a military spouse myself, I know first hand the stressors and challenges that come with moving to a new place. At Hover Girl Properties, we try to make the home buying process as simple as possible and thanks to modern technology; many of our customers purchase homes from overseas or from across the country! Not everyone has the time or money to make a trip to house hunt, so we try to bring the house hunting to you, wherever you are!
How do we do it?
Make a plan. One of the first steps is connecting with the customer and getting a list of requirements, budget, preapproval, etc. This can all be done through email, Facetime or phone.
Select homes. You will get setup on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) and begin to select listings you would like to view.
Enlist family and friends to help. If you have family or friends that live in Jacksonville or nearby, I encourage you to connect them with your agent so they can be a second set of eyes and help give you feedback on the homes you view.
Schedule showings. We will schedule your Facetime showings around your time zone and can take videos if that timing doesn’t work out.
Make your pros/cons list. During the Facetime showing, I try to cover all of the bases. Is there a smell to the home? Will it need new paint or carpet? What is the condition of the yard? I show you the house through my own eyes, like I was buying it for myself.
Determine the flow of the home. We will provide you with a floorplan of the home if available (or I will freehand draw) so you can see the layout and flow of the home.
Make sure it is the ONE. I’m always happy to go back for a second or third showing and take measurements as well.
Go time. Once you decide on a home we submit an offer and negotiate the contract. Anything related to the contract or loan can be done via phone or email. Even closings can be “mail-away” or can be signed by a power of attorney!
